Sessions – A session in analytics refers to the a group of interactions a single user has within a given time frame on your website.
Bounce Rate– Bounce rate is one of the more confusing terms to understand. Simply put, a bounce is when a visitor exits after only looking at one page. The bounce rate is the percentage of visitors that exit after viewing one page. The lower the bounce rate, the better.
Pageviews – A pageview is exactly what it sounds like. It’s when a visitor views a page. However, for an accurate number, it’s important to look at unique pageviews because a single visitor can trigger multiple pageviews in one session.
Users – Users who have not previously visited your website are considered users. If the cookie that tracked an existing visitor has expired, analytics will also rank this as a user.
Session Duration – This section of Google Analytics refers to the amount of time visitors spend on your websites and pages. Make sure you focus on the different times/days user engagement is the highest so you can post on your site appropriately.
Organic Traffic – Organic traffic is the traffic that comes to your site as a result of unpaid search results. For example, if a visitor searches for a keyword that is relevant to content on your site, you will show up organically on search engines based on relevance.
Direct Traffic – Direct traffic is when visitors to your site entered the URL into their browser directly or when a visitor uses a bookmark to pull up your website.
Referral Traffic – When a visitor arrives on your website through another source, that is considered referral traffic.
Session Duration – Session duration is defined as the length of time a visitor spends on your site within a specific time period. This is helpful data when measuring the effectiveness of the website.
