KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Dobies Health Marketing, a strategic healthcare marketing firm now celebrating its 30th year, is pleased to announce recertification as a Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). As the nation’s largest third-party certifier of businesses owned and operated by women, WBENC aims to facilitate the growth of women-owned companies while promoting innovation through diversity.
To be eligible for WBENC certification, companies must be at least 51 percent owned, operated, and controlled by a woman or women. In addition to operational requirements, WBENC certification includes an in-depth review of the financial and operating policies of the organization. Dobies Health Marketing initially became WBENC-certified in 2020, and leaders say they are proud to maintain the certification each year.
“We are pleased to have and maintain this designation, now for our third year, because we believe in the mission of the WBENC,” said Carol Dobies, CEO and Founder. “It is important to have a range of perspectives in business and business management, and organizations like WBENC are dedicated to ensuring that. We’re happy to be involved and serve as advocates for women in business leadership.”
Dobies has earned numerous accolades for her leadership over the years, including being named among Kansas City Business Journal’s 25 Women Who Mean Business and among Influential Women by Kansas City Business Magazine. She is a member of the Women Business Leaders of U.S. Healthcare Industry Foundation.
“Making sure women have an equal voice is key for any type of business, any type of organization, and it’s wonderful to see an ever-growing number of women embracing business ownership,” said Julie Amor, President and Chief Strategy Officer, who previously led the marketing team at The University of Kansas Health System for over fifteen years. “It’s also great to see so many organizations seeking out women-owned business, both within the healthcare industry and beyond.”
Over the years, Dobies Health Marketing has earned numerous marketing, branding and advertising awards within the healthcare category. The firm has been named among Kansas City’s top 25 companies with under 25 employees, a distinction given to select small business that have had positive economic, social and community impact within the Kansas City area.
